When Melanie goes home from the pub with
a handsome stranger, she’s captivated by his charm and
attentiveness. He sails her away to his ‘castle’-
a rundown shack on a deserted island. But when seduction becomes
deception and passion becomes possession, Melanie realizes
that she has been kidnapped. Torn between fear and desire,
Melanie must escape - but her ardent admirer has other plans.

This
remarkable documentary manages to compel almost exclusively
via the spoken word as seven elderly women offer candid
yet articulate and boldy frank recollections of their
wartime experience. A rare blend of entertainment
and education destined to earn its place as something
of a national treasure.

A
gracious tribute to the post-war generation of New
Zealand women, Gaylene Preston does a job worthy of her
forebears in charting the early years of social
campaigner, Sonya Davies. Genevieve Picot won the
1994 NZ Film Award for Best Actress.

A cantankerous landlord, a would-be
rock singer and a delinquent child have more in common
than they realise when they unwittingly share the same
roof. A warm-hearted comedy.

A young woman acquires a Mark 2 Jaguar
that appears to be harbouring the ghost of a past owner.
Some well executed thrills keep Heather Bolton convincingly
terrified.
