By Costa Botes
Gaylene Preston’s second feature
more than lives up to its advance reputation. Leaving
aside its future commercial prospects (bright I hope),
the film marks a real breakthrough for the New Zealand
industry simply in its artistic achievement. A well-told
story, funny, touching, and wise, beautifully executed
in every department.
